The Opposition

Planned Parenthood and its affiliates are pulling out all the stops to ensure that women are not losing access to abortion. Fortune 500 companies across the nation have partnered with Planned Parenthood to ensure that women are not restricted access due to finances, transportation, or geographic location.

These companies include but are not limited to Apple, Yelp, Levi’s, Lyft, Reddit, Meta, Microsoft, Xbox, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Door Dash, MasterCard, Citi, PayPal, Airbnb, Patagonia, J.P. Morgan, Bank of America, Zillow, Bumble, Match, Disney, Netflix, Comcast, Paramount, Warner Bros., Discovery, and Sony.

Planned Parenthood is scrambling to perform as many abortions as they can before the 6-week trigger law ban can take place.

They are selling these abortions like a used car that’ll break down on you in the next year and they KNOW IT. Abortion workers who have escaped their industry express that they are trained and pressured into convincing their clients that abortion is the decision that will work best for them.

Additionally, the abortion pill, now being referred to as Plan C, is available for mail order without even seeing a physician or receiving an ultrasound. An abortion is easier to purchase than a pack of cigarettes.

The abortion industry is backed by millions of donor dollars, the Biden administration, and DEM lawmakers. But our God is bigger! This is just a small victory for God. He is bigger and stronger than any amount of money or worldly power.

Thousands of dangerous ‘home remedies’ for self-abortion are on the internet as a result of the pro-choice movement trying to keep abortion accessible. Planned Parenthood is funneling women as far as Texas to Chicago to perform abortions. They are not giving up, and we anticipate seeing a rise in abortion clinics along the borders of states where it will remain legal.

What the Overturning of Roe v. Wade Means

There has been a lot of misinformation posted on the internet since the overturning of Roe v. Wade that has turned into a lot of fear and confusion. The overturning of Roe v. Wade accomplished one thing and one thing only; the deferral of the legality of abortion to each individual state instead of it being regulated on a federal level.

Roe v. Wade being overturned DID NOT affect treatment for miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, endometriosis, or excessive uterine bleeding. Women cannot and will not be prosecuted for having a miscarriage or a D&C procedure. The treatment for any issue involving a woman’s reproductive system will NOT be affected by this change.

States are now able to choose for themselves if and when abortion will be legal in a similar way that states can choose their own like marijuana regulation, commerce, education, healthcare, marriage limits, and taxation.

Trigger laws were previously in place for many states prior to the Roe decision which means once Roe was overturned their state would automatically ban abortion at 6 weeks. Similarly, many states also had a Heartbeat bill in place, which bans abortion after a heartbeat is detected (usually around five and a half to six weeks gestation).

Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming are among the states who already had a trigger law in place that will take effect during the first 30 days after the Roe decision. Nearly half of the states are positioned to severely limit abortion or outlaw it altogether.

As of July 1, 2022, 28 states remain where abortion is legal. In Indiana, the decision has been pushed from July 6, 2022 to July 25, 2022. Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb released the following statement shortly after the June 24th Supreme Court decision, “I have been clear in stating I am pro-life. We have an opportunity to make progress in protecting the sanctity of life, and that's exactly what we will do."

Medical Facts

Miscarriage – There is not a law in existence that will prevent you from being treated for/during a miscarriage. A D&C is a procedure that cleans out the uterus to prevent infection and other issues. If the baby is already passed or the patient is not pregnant, a D&C does not mean you are having an abortion. The difference is the baby passed naturally. In an abortion, the baby still has a heartbeat. A D&C may be necessary to ensure the heath of some women, but it is not always considered an abortion procedure.

Ectopic Pregnancy – In an ectopic pregnancy, the embryo implants outside of the uterus in a fallopian tube. There is no way to save the baby in this circumstance. It is vital for a woman experiencing ectopic pregnancy to seek medical attention immediately. This is not considered an abortion in any way. Common treatment includes medication and surgery to remove the embryo and oftentimes the affected fallopian tube.

Endometriosis – This is a condition where tissue that usually forms inside of the uterus grows outside of the uterus involving areas such as the fallopian tube, pelvic area, and ovaries. It is a painful and incurable diagnosis. No woman will be denied treatment for endometriosis in any state. Just because it involves a woman’s uterus, does not mean that the care or treatment for this condition has changed under the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

D&C – D stands for Dilation and C stands for Curettage. During this procedure, the cervix is dilated, and the lining of the uterus is scraped clean with a tool called a curette. This procedure is not an abortion. It can be used as part of an abortion after the baby has been given life-ending medication. Reasons for this procedure can include abnormal bleeding, infertility, cancer detection, and removing remaining placenta after birth. This procedure will not be limited to women in need of it in any way or in any state.

Reproductive Health – Things that will NOT be affected by Roe v. Wade:

Chemical/Medical Abortion – 50% of abortions are chemical abortions using Mifepristone and Misoprostol. Right now, you can go online and order abortion pills without providing official gestational dating and without providing identification. Not only is it illegal to provide an abortion to underage females because of the mandatory reporting law for statutory rape, but it is extremely dangerous to take the abortion pill after 10 weeks. The baby will too big to pass naturally and complications such as hemorrhaging, infection, sepsis, and death.

How to Answer Pro-Choice Questions

Q1: When does life begin?  At the point of viability (24-28 weeks)?

A: Life begins when a unique genetic code is formed when egg meets sperm. At fertilization, that combination of DNA has never been formed and will never be formed again. See the S.L.E.D. method below. A person is a person no matter how small. A Chicago University of Chicago study says that 96% of scientists agree that life begins at conception. My faith tells me that human life has value. Science tells me that life begins at conception.

Q2: A fetus is just a cluster of cells.

A: You are just a cluster of cells. What makes your value any greater than a baby in the womb?

Q3: What about the destruction of fertilized eggs during IVF?

A: The doctor is ending a human life. The intention is different though. He is not dismembering a human child with limbs to remove it from a mother’s womb. IVF really doesn’t not have anything to do with the issue of pro-life laws at hand. It is a completely different discussion. We are talking about dismembering children intentionally.

Q4: But the FDA has approved abortion pills as safe and effective... aren’t you worried that women will hurt themselves trying to perform an abortion themselves?

A: The pro-life movement is not responsible for the spread of at-home ’remedies’ for abortion. The pro-choice community is responsible for putting that information out there and are encouraging women to ingest chemicals and other dangerous homebrewed cocktails that will kill their children and possibly themselves. The pro-life movement is asking women how they can alleviate the crisis that women are experiencing along with their unintended pregnancy.

Q5: What about the argument regarding fetal anomalies or babies that are ‘incompatible with life’ or diagnosed with a fetal anomaly?

A: If a baby is not viable outside the womb, oftentimes the baby will not survive the pregnancy or will only live a few hours after birth depending on the diagnosis. This doesn’t give anyone the right to prematurely end the life of the baby. You would euthanize a terminally ill adult, so why would you do that to a baby?

Q6: If Indiana passes an abortion ban bill will this force women to die of ectopic pregnancies?

A: Ectopic pregnancy is a life-threatening condition and no woman will be denied care. Ectopic pregnancies cannot survive. This is not an abortion.

Q7: Will they be prosecuted for having miscarriages or having a D&C procedure?

A: No. Miscarriage is a natural loss of a pregnancy and D&C procedures are not an abortion if the isn’t a baby in the womb or if the baby passed naturally but did not pass on his/her own.

Q8: What about women who have been raped?

A: Rape is a heinous crime. However, the value of human life is not based on the circumstances of conception. Tens of thousands of Americans have been conceived in sexual assault. It completely negates the value of their lives when people say that children conceived in rape are not worth living. Rapists love abortion. Why are we rewarding the assailant? Abortion is a secondary trauma in the same location that their assault occurred.

Q9: What about those who experience incest?

A: Same answer as above concerning rape.

Q10: You are ok with the thousands of children in foster care and living in poverty?

A: We believe in eliminating the suffering not the sufferer. Is your solution to kill all of the children in foster care? It is no different killing a baby in the womb. Death is not the answer to eliminating suffering. Just because someone may live in poverty doesn’t mean you should erase their life. Abortion is not a solution. Support is the solution.

Q11: What about the life of the mother situations?

A: In the unfortunate circumstance that a pregnancy is threatening the life of the mother, which is extremely rare, it is not necessary to end the life of the child. Delivering the child with dignity in the hopes that they have reached viability, which has recently been successful at 21-22 weeks' gestation.

Q12: If we outlaw abortions won’t more women now die attempting self-abortions?

A: Women are already dying because of abortion. There is no such thing as a safe abortion.

Here is an everyday tool to simplify defending your pro-life stance. We all know how uncomfortable it can be to speak up about an issue so is so highly debated. This easy four step conversation tool gives you a structured and simple way to defend your pro-life stance with ease and comfortability.

The S.L.E.D. Method

Size

A lot of people like to use size as an argument as to whether or not an unborn baby counts as a person because of how small they are.

Does a 6-foot man have more value than a 5-foot woman? Someone’s right to life is not dependent on their size. EVERY human has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Level of Development

It is often argued that the unborn are not developed and therefore are not considered people.

Is a preschooler less of a person than a college professor? The professor is much more developed than a preschooler. Their motor skills, insight, common sense, and general knowledge far exceeds that of a 4-year-old, so does that mean the preschooler is less of a person? No!

Environment

Some people say that the unborn aren’t people because they aren’t in the world yet.

Well... they are in the world! Even inside the womb, they are still in the world! Even though our environments are always changing, it doesn’t change the value we have as people. A baby’s value does not change based on being in the womb as opposed to moments after birth.

Degree of Dependency

Another common argument is that the unborn are totally dependent on their mother, so how can they be a person?

A two-year-old needs help with general hygiene, getting dressed, eating, and hydrating. A two-year-old is dependent on his or her guardian to provide all of that. If you left a two-year-old alone and unattended, he or she couldn’t survive long-term. So, how can we say a baby in the womb isn’t a person just because it depends on its mother for survival?

Next time you are talking to someone about pro-life issues, use the S.L.E.D method!

Size doesn’t determine personhood.
Development doesn’t determine personhood.
Environment doesn’t determine personhood.
Dependency doesn’t determine personhood.

The more we normalize talking about the value of human life, the more human life will be valued! We have to expose the lies that our society believes. Each baby growing in their mother’s womb is a person, specifically and uniquely created by God.

Chemical Abortion Stats and Facts

In 2021, 56% of the abortions performed in Indiana were chemical. There was a 5.5% increase in abortions in the state of Indiana compared to 2020.

A chemical abortion can be performed up to 10 weeks gestation in Indiana. The process begins with a pill called mifepristone. This medication stops the production of progesterone in the mother’s body, which is a hormone that stabilizes the lining of the uterus and provides nutrients and oxygen to the baby. Typically, after 48 hours a second pill is taken called misoprostol. This medication causes the uterus to contract and expel the baby. This process is generally done at home without medical supervision. Severe pain, cramping, and bleeding occur for days and sometimes weeks. Some women need to be hospitalized and need surgery to remove the remains of the baby also known as a post-abortive D&C.

There is no National Abortion Reporting Law. Maternal deaths due to abortion are not reported. According to Kristan Hawkins, the President of Students for Life of America, there have 24 maternal deaths from the abortion pill since the overturning of Roe v. Wade on June 24, 2022.

When you Google ‘Plan C’, you’ll find a website where you can order abortion pills without having or providing an official dating ultrasound or a legal form of identification. Statutory rape, incest, and human trafficking is easily covered up through this easily accessible at-home abortion. Also, when abortion pills are taken after 10 weeks gestation, a serious threat is posed to the health of the mother. At 10 weeks and beyond, the baby is too big to pass on his/her own. A retained pregnancy and can cause hemorrhaging, infection, sepsis, and even death. Women are taking these pills alone at home without medical supervision. Planned Parenthood isn’t offering post-abortion follow-ups any longer. They advise taking a pregnancy test 4 weeks after the abortion pill regime. Four weeks post abortion without successfully passing the fetus would likely result in sepsis and/or death.
